DKL HQ get crafty with Hama!

Here at DKL HQ we are used to seeing no end of wonderful Hama bead designs, we have seen pretty much everything and I guess we have become somewhat desensitized to the skill, time, and effort that is put into each creation. It’s great to see Hama used not only in the traditional way of following a pegboard shape, but people using them to create art (I have seen some pretty convincing versions of the Mona Lisa!), jewellery, storage boxes, Christmas decorations, the possibilities really are endless!

Contrary to popular belief we rarely get the opportunity to sit and make Hama creations, so I set the DKL office a challenge to come up with a Hama design that could be used in everyday life!

So after seeking inspiration from the magical DKL Hama Pinterest Board and sifting through the cupboard to find some unused Hama beads we all got to work!

Since everyone decided to take this much more seriously than expected the competition commenced – Best Hama creation wins! This is what the folks at DKL came up with – some were decorative, some were practical, and some were just for the fun of it!

Neil and the Warehouse were the first to finish, using designs from the Hama Safari set and some imagination to tie it all together, the screen cover has now become the envy of the DKL office.

Charlie channelled her love for owl designs and made this super cute hanging display, a great decorative piece and can be made with lots of different designs. She added a couple more rows of beads to each Owl to create her little family!

Once everyone’s designs had been completed the office took an anonymous vote. In an almost unanimous decision, Katie’s window display was crowned the winner! It’s hard not to walk into the office and smile when you see this :)
